As a nonprofit focused on health and financial aid for medical needs, we have seen first-hand the pitfalls of low-quality or inadequate medical supplies. We have visited many hospitals where, due to a combination of demoralised medical staff and a shortage of basic needs (beds, electricity, food, medicine, etc), patients are forced to endure substandard medical aid or spend more money than they’d usually need to on hospital bills. One of such hospitals is the Federal Government Primary Health centre in Ojodu, Ogun state. 

The Challenge

Our conversation with doctors and staff at the Ojodu Primary Health Center, the hospital has not had electricity for over two years. The staff tell us that the Ogun State government provided a generator with no further assistance. Now, patients who require electricity have to pay for fuel out of pocket. The hospital is also short of medical supplies, quality beds or healthy rooms.

Solution: Total renovation 

We’re working with staff, volunteers and Visit A Hospital Today team members to renovate the Ojodu primary health centre. By the end of January, we hope to achieve the following: 

• Paint the entire hospital
• Buy fans for rooms and waiting areas
• Buy doors for rooms 
• Buy hospital beds
• Provide quality medical supplies

Total Goal – N1,800,000; Remaining – 1,719,000
