The primary objective of this joint effort was to raise awareness about the risks associated with high blood pressure and diabetes within the community. Over the course of two days, a community medical outreach took place in Oworonshoki, Sponsored by Black Girls in Tech, to screen residents for hypertension and diabetes. The event aimed to shed light on the prevalence of these chronic illnesses while also offering free medications to those diagnosed.
The outreach drew a substantial crowd, with more than 150 residents of the Cele community participating. The majority of attendees were middle-aged and elderly individuals, who face a higher risk of developing hypertension and diabetes. The outreach was conducted by a team of dedicated healthcare professionals. The event kicked off with beneficiaries registering their names and weights, followed by blood pressure checks. Nurses then screened participants for diabetes, followed by consultations with doctors. Those diagnosed with hypertension and diabetes received free medications to help manage their conditions.
This outreach event would not have been possible without the generous sponsorship from Black Girls in Tech. Their support aligns perfectly with the mission to deliver essential healthcare services to underserved communities, and the Visit a Hospital Foundation expresses profound gratitude for this crucial assistance.
Furthermore, the foundation acknowledges the unwavering commitment and hard work of its volunteers. Their selfless contributions were vital in ensuring the event’s success. The organization’s goal is to extend these vital services to new locations on a monthly basis, ensuring that an even greater number of individuals can access essential healthcare resources and education.
If you are inspired by this mission and wish to be part of this ongoing effort, we invite you to join us and support our cause. Together, we can create a lasting impact in the lives of those in need.
